Many years ago hunting preserves in the United States
started selling
what they called Wild Boar Hunts. In truth,
what most other preserves
sell are really feral hog hunts. These feral
hogs are trapped in the
southern United States and then transported to these
preserves. The
word feral means something which once was in captivity
but is no longer
in captivity. When the white man came to the
North American continent
there were no hogs here. The white man brought
domesticated swine which
he either turned loose, or escaped from him.
This was the beginning of
the feral hog population that now lives in the southern
United States.
In Europe, on the other hand, there have been wild
boar since the
beginning of time. The wild boar in Europe are
a completely different
animal than the feral hogs that are in the United
States. They even have
a different scientific name. Since import restrictions
are less strict
than they are in the United States, the Canadians
started importing
these true wild boar from Europe and raising them
on their vast acreage
several years ago. These are the true wild boar
that we import from
Canada for you here at Southern Ohio Hunting Preserve.
The true wild
boar have far superior hair all over their whole bodies
and on their
hackles. Their tusk growth is also far superior.
Thus, our true
European Wild Boar make a far superior mount when
compared to a
southern feral hog that most other preserves
the offer.
We are a full service hunting preserve. This
means that our services
are included in our price. Guide work, field
dressing, transportation
to and from the preserve, skinning of your animal,
and quartering, all
items that are included in your price when they are
necessary. Many
preserves quote you will low price for their
trophy fee and then after
they get you there, they charge you additionally for
all of these items.
This means you harvest a lesser animal and end up
paying a higher
price. Remember, hunts are the
same as anything else. A cheap hunt is
just exactly that-- A CHEAP HUNT!
